Kizomba Classes in Barcelona
Discover the most sensual dance from Africa with connection, musicality and embrace
Dance with your heart
What is Kizomba and why is everyone talking about it?
Imagine a dance where the connection with your partner is so intense it feels like you're reading each other's minds. Where every movement comes from the embrace, not memorized steps. That's Kizomba: the most sensual dance from Africa, born in Angola in the late 80s and now conquering dance floors worldwide.
Kizomba was born from the fusion of Angolan Semba with Zouk from the French Antilles. The name means "party" in Kimbundu, one of the Bantu languages of Angola. Unlike other Latin dances, Kizomba is danced in a close embrace with undulating hip movements, where the leader guides with the torso, not the hands.
In our classes, we work on real partner connection, African musicality, and that smooth, controlled movement quality that makes Kizomba so special. It's not about learning complicated figures, but feeling the music and communicating with your partner through the embrace.
It doesn't matter if you come alone or with a partner, if you've never danced or already know other styles. Kizomba is for anyone seeking human connection, musicality, and an intimate, elegant way of dancing.

Can I come without a dance partner?
Yes. Many students come alone and we rotate partners during class. It's an excellent way to meet people and improve your adaptability.
What's the difference between Kizomba and bachata?
Kizomba is slower and with a closer embrace. It comes from Angola (Africa), while bachata is Dominican (Caribbean). Kizomba emphasizes connection and undulations; bachata has more lateral steps and turns.
What should I wear to classes?
Comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely. Shoes with smooth soles (not chunky sneakers). Ladies can wear low heels or socks.
Is Kizomba very sensual? Is it appropriate for everyone?
Kizomba is sensual but always respectful. In class we work on technical connection and mutual respect. You decide the level of intimacy with your partner.
Are there different styles of Kizomba?
Yes. There's traditional Kizomba (Angolan), Urban Kiz (more modern), Tarraxinha (slower and more sensual) and Ghetto Zouk (fusion with R&B).
Can I try a class before signing up?
Yes. We offer a welcome class at a special price so you can try without commitment.
What type of music is used in Kizomba?
Kizomba music (artists like Nelson Freitas, Mika Mendes, C4 Pedro), Ghetto Zouk, and R&B remixes. Slow rhythms with African and Antillean influence.
Is it good physical exercise?
Yes. Although it's a slow dance, you work your core, legs, balance and coordination. It also reduces stress thanks to the connection and embrace.
How long does it take to learn?
In 2-3 months of regular classes you can dance comfortably at parties. Kizomba has an accessible learning curve compared to other dances.
Where are the classes?
Farray's Center is at Calle Entença 100, 08015 Barcelona, 5 minutes from Plaza España and Sants. Excellent metro, bus and train connections.
Do you organize Kizomba parties or practice sessions?

Can I combine Kizomba with other styles?
Absolutely. Kizomba perfectly complements bachata, salsa and zouk. Many dancers study several styles.
